About Us

Devizes Video Club was established in 1966.

We meet every Friday evening at the Crown Centre, just off the Market Place in Devizes. The membership numbers around 50 and ranges from professional movie makers, to those who just wish to record family events and holidays for fun.

The main aims of the club are to encourage the making of movies as a hobby and to encourage interest in amateur  movie making as a medium of information and education. We also try to promote awareness of amateur movie making in the local community, by the provision of public shows of members' videos etc. to other clubs, organisations and various charitable institutions. We record the main events taking place in the town and surrounding areas, this includes parades, festivals and any functions of interest to the community in general. We hold copies of all the main events ( including the Queen's visit and a complete record of the refurbishment of the Corn Exchange) in our archives.

The atmosphere of the club is extremely friendly and there is always help and advice available for anyone who feels lost in the maze of equipment now available on the market. Members get the chance to show their work on a large screen via the clubs own video projector, which can handle all formats.

The weekly programme includes varied aspects of video making, with demonstrations, talks on new equipment, members experiences and outside visits in the summer. We also hold an annual dinner, barbeque and Christmas social evening.

Meetings are held in the Crown Room, at the Crown Centre, St. John Street, every Friday, from 7 45 PM. until 10 PM. Tea/coffee and biscuits are available during the break and the cost is £2. per evening. New members are entitled to three free evenings before joining. The annual subscription fee is £l0, plus £5 to include annual membership of the Crown Centre.

Why not come along and see for yourself ?
